TAG! (Tiger Actors Guild) wishes to extend greetings to you our visitor, as you stumble across our home on the web! We are excited to begin a new year of drama here at East Juniata High School! Follow below to see what we are currently doing and what our future plans are for the 2014-2015 TAG! season!

  • TAG! is now readying for the big event of the year, our musical, "Cinderella" -- which is slated to be performed on March 20 and 21, 2015. Auditions are fast approaching on December 16th and 17th, and casting will be announced that Friday. Our readthrough will be Monday, December 22, immediately after school.

  • November 10, 2014: TAG! is gearing up for our first play of the season, "Up The Down Staircase", to be presented on November 14th and 15th in EJ's auditorium, starting at 7:00. Tickets are on sale now or available at the door and cost $4.00! We hope to see you there! It promises to be a wonderful show!

  • April 26, 2014: Our 2014 season has ended and we close the door on a spectacular year in which our students shone! Many thanks to our patrons and to our audiences, who thanked our students with a standing ovation on our final night of "Anything Goes!" It was worth the hard work in the end, and we were not quite ready to stop performing for all of you!

    If you have a desire to financially support our theatrical endeavours, we would welcome you to do so! Just contact us via the website for more information. Remember, we are funded only through our ticket sales!

    TAG! now looks ahead to this summer's Theatre Fest , which is slated for Friday, July 25th. This year, because of renovations at EJHS, our theatre fest will be held at Bunkertown Church of the Brethren ! Not to worry, though, next year we plan to be back in our auditorium for our festival! Many thanks to Bunkertown Church of the Brethren for allowing us to have our theatre fest there!

    TAG! has already begun plans for our next season of plays, with our Jr. Class Play, "Invasion of the Student Body Snatchers" to be presented in November, and our spring muscial, "Cinderella" (yes, CINDERELLA!) to be performed in March of 2015. As you can imagine, costuming costs will be enormous! We are already beginning the process of finding just the right look for our presentation.

  • November 21, 2013: Our first play of the season, "Down In The Pitz", is completed and TAG! now turns its attention to our upcoming musical, "Anything Goes!" Stay tuned for upcoming info on auditions, etc!

  • October 3, 2013: The new school year is in full swing, as is our new play season. TAG! is busily preparing for our Fall play, "Down In The Pitz!" , which will be performed on November 15th and 16th, 2013. We are featuring students of EJHS from all grades! Come out and support your friends and your class! It promises to be a fun night full of comedy and action!

  • June 7, 2013: As the summer is almost upon us, TAG! is readying for our Fourth Annual Theatre Fest! Our Theatre Fest will be held on Friday, July 26th. It is open to all students from any schools who are entering 5th through 12th grade. Workshops include hands on experience in topics such as "Stage makeup -- wounds and bruises, and special techniques", "Stage Combat", "Musical Dance -- The Charleston, as well as a beginner class in Tap", "Vocal Technique in Musical Theatre", "Theatre Games" and many more. Students are able to choose three workshops in which to participate. You must register to attend! If room allows, we will take those who do not register, but you may not get the classes you hoped for. You can register here . You can also pick up registration forms at the office and turn them back in at the office as well! Come enjoy a fun filled day with all things theatre!

  • March 20, 2013: And so TAG! closes our 2012-13 season with a fabulous production of "Li'l Abner"! Our theme this year has been "We Build Characters" and our cast was instructed to take their character and make it their own, remembering to make bold choices. I am pleased to say the cast has risen to the year long assignment!

    It is always with a bit of sadness that we close the door on a season. Some of our most talented actors will graduate this year, leaving a void, and we wish you all the very best. I am confident our remaining thespians will step up, fill shoes left vacant and we will return next year with a desire and drive to succeed.

    As we end this season, we look forward to the fourth annual Theatre Festival coming up July 26th. Always a lot of fun, we are excited to once again invite the community to share in our love for all things theatre.

  • December 16, 2012: The musical is just around the corner! Casting is finished, parts are assigned and the script is in the midst of adjustment. (There's always a line or two that needs 'changed') Our musical this year is "Li'l Abner" and will be performed on March 15th and 16th. Our readthrough will be Monday, December 17th, immediately after school. Any students who need the activity bus should sign up for it and will be dismissed at the appropriate time to catch the bus. We *should* be done with the readthrough by 5:15-5:30. Play practice will begin in earnest after Christmas break. If there are a few of you that would like to work on your songs over break, be sure to contact me to set things up. Let's GO, TAG!

  • November 12, 2012: Thanks to all who came to support TAG!'s Jr. Class Play! It was a smaller crowd but a good one, and the kids performed brilliantly. After a few weeks off to recuperate and enjoy Thanksgiving, it will be time to look ahead to our spring musical, "Lil Abner", set to be performed on March 15th and 16th, 2013!

  • October 22, 2012: TAG! is fast approaching the Jr. Class Play, "Be My Ghost", performed on November 9th and 10th in EJ's auditorium starting at 7:00 PM! Tickets cost $4.00 and will go on sale soon! Stay tuned for more information!

  • August 13, 2012: It is that time of year again -- the start of a new theatrical season at East Juniata High School! School will soon be in session and with it, auditions for our upcoming Jr. Class Play, set to be performed on November 9th and 10th. Stay tuned for more details as you enjoy the end of summer and get ready to get back in the groove!

  • July 28th, 2012: Thanks to all the students who participated in our Theatre Festival and to the presenters that made the day a fun and fast paced event. 27 students from the surrounding communities were able to experience classes such as 'Basic Dance', 'Stage Combat', Stage Makeup, Wounds and Bruises', 'Vocal Technique' and other classes, with the help of our presenters, coming away having learned a thing or two about being on and backstage, and reaffirming their love of all things theatrical. It was a wonderful day!!

  • July 14, 2012: Our festival is fast approaching! Last year we were able to bring together about 25 kids from the surrounding community for a full day of fun. We plan to offer our festival on July 27th, if interest holds! Go and register today -- if we don't have a certain amount of students signed up, the festival will be canceled for this year. Let's hope that doesn't happen!

    May 23, 2012: As the school year winds down to its conclusion, TAG! begins once again to plan for our upcoming Theatre Workshop Festival, on July 27th, 2012 held here at EJ! Open to school districts in our area and beyond, TAG! invites students entering 5th through 12th grade to sign up for enrichment workshops such as Theatre Games, Stage Makeup, Basic Dance, Voice for Musical Theatre and PlayWriting.   • April 22, 2012: What a fantastic theatrical season EJHS has enjoyed this year! From our comedic Jr. Class Play, 'Campaign Capers at Taft High' last November to the resounding success and standing ovation of 'Seven Brides for Seven Brothers', our cast is ready to take a much needed and deserved break.

    This year we lose several talented students to graduation. It will be difficult to see these students leave us behind and head off into the unknown but they always know there's a place for them to come back to as needed. TAG! always remains a true family.

  • March 3, 2012: Practice is frantically in full swing and will be so even more next week as we combine spring sports into the daily chaos that makes a musical happen. To familiarize yourselves with some of the harmony, please go HERE to download and listen to your parts. Remember -- listening to these sound clips a few times each night will mean you come to practice with a clue of what is going on -- always a boon!

  • January 4, 2012: Our first practice will be right after school today, a readthrough of the play. This is an important practice for all, especially for speaking parts. Familiarizing yourself with the play is essential to knowing what is going on!

    The first few weeks in January will mainly be working on songs to prepare for the last few weeks in January -- which will focus more on dance. This play is going to involve a lot of individual work because there is no accompanease this year.

  • December 22, 2011: TAG! is gearing up for our spring musical, "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers", which will be performed on April 13th and 14th. Auditions have been held and the cast can be found here! There is a lot of talent this year. Cast decisions were very difficult. Congratulations to all, it is my hope we can pull together to put on a wonderful show.

  • August 9, 2011: A notice to all involved in TAG! -- The School Board has decided that all who participate in some form of extracurricular activity must pay at least a nominal fee to do so. The fee decided upon for TAG! is $20.00 for the school year. What that means is, if you participate in the Fall Play, you pay $20.00. If you participate in the Musical, you pay $20.00. If you participate in both, you still only pay $20.00. So I think all of you should get your money's worth and be in both! More information to follow as we approach the beginning of a new school year and new play season!

    The good news in all of this is, plays WILL CONTINUE this school year!

  • August 1, 2011: TAG! is closing the doors on our summer session with great satisfaction. Our Theatre Festival Workshop, which was offered free of charge on July 27th, was attended by approximately 25 students from Juniata and Mifflin County. Classes in Vocals, Dance, Set Design, Stage Makeup and Theatre Games/Improvisation were presented with hands-on experience and we were treated to a talk from local thespians, Lon and Susan Diffenderfer, on the importance of creating a character. The workshops were followed by a Spaghetti Dinner, hosted by TAG!'s beloved 'caterers', the Brotzmans. All participants were invited to stay for a dress rehearsal of our summer play, a thriller called "The More The Scarier". All in all it was an exhausting but wonderful day, in which three of our students were able to get their senior projects finished. We then finished the week with two performances to the public of "The More The Scarier", which was well received.

    Kudos to the students and alumni who gave of their time to participate in a summer play. Your hard work is much appreciated by myself and your audience. Well done!

  • July 3rd, 2011: TAG's Summer Theatre Workshop Festival is fast approaching and July 27th will be here before we know it! Follow links above to the theatre fest for more information and instructions on how to register! On July 29th and 30th, TAG! will perform our summer play, "The More The Scarier" , starting at 7:00 PM. Escape the summer heat and come enjoy an eve of mystery and suspense as we perform!

  • June 8, 2011: Play practice has begun and scripts have been given. Some changes had to be made -- one that our director was unable to continue in this position as he was able to obtain a job (Yay!) that takes him to Baltimore Monday through Friday (Boo!). He will however, continue in an advisory capacity as he can, and hopes to be able to attend our Theatre Festival and once again head up the "Theatre Games" portion of the theatre festival hosted here at EJ on July 27th.

    ATTENTION CAST AND CREW! We have set up a group on facebook to post practice schedules -- to access this group, you must 'friend' either myself, Karis or Drew. Contact me with any questions!

    Practice next week will be Monday (June 13th) and Wednesday (June 15th) from 10-12 and Thursday, time to be determined at our practice on Monday. REMEMBER!! Our time is more limited over the summer, and although our practices are more relaxed, you are expected to come having looked over your lines. YOU WILL GO WITHOUT BOOKS EVERY PRACTICE, so save yourself the frustration and have a clue before you get here.

    I am so proud of the workers for the festival and summer play. What an opportunity to be a part of something so great! You all make the extra hours worth it.

  • May 20, 2011: It is time to sign up for our summer play, "The More The Scarier", directed by Drew Ciecierski, which is slated to be performed for our Theatre Festival students on July 27th as well as the weekend immediately following, Friday, July 29th and Saturday, July 30th. Sign ups are going on now at the high school with auditions set for Wednesday, May 25th, 2011. Stay tuned for more info coming up!

  • May 1, 2011: TAG! turns our attention to the upcoming summer months and the second annual Music Theatre Workshop Festival , which will be held on Wednesday, July 27th at EJ's Auditorium! We are also pondering a summer play, perhaps having a dress rehearsal for the students following the workshop festival. Stay tuned as more information becomes available but clear your calendars now!

  • March 21, 2011: It is time once again for TAG! to close our doors on a play season. It is rumored that this might be our last drama season at EJHS and we can only hope such grim suspicions remain unproven. Thanks once again to all our students and families who participated in this play and who made it possible. As we continue to strive for excellence, it is wonderful to look back at those that have supported us in the past and continue to do so. Thank you -- for allowing us this creative expression.

  • January 6, 2011: Practice is in full swing and we are raring to go! Accompanease info can be found following this link . This rehearsal tool is available for download to your computer. We will be using this in practice, so if you are having difficulty figuring it out, please let me know then, and I can help explain the program for you and will let you play around with it as well. Use this tool! I promise it WILL help you!

    The schedule is posted through next week. Make sure you stop in and pick one up. New schedules will be available every Friday, so make it a habit to stop in at lunchtime on Fridays to get a new schedule. Feel free to take one for yourself and one for home too!

  • December 19,2010: Postings for parts in our upcoming musical can be found here . Congratulations to all -- We have great singers and actors. I truly look forward to coaching you all to production!

    Just a quick reminder -- Readthrough for the play will be on Tuesday immediately following school. THIS IS A SCHEDULE CHANGE -- to accomodate those students who need to ride the activity bus. Scripts will also be handed out at this time. REMEMBER! There are only a few big parts for girls, so do not be upset if your part has no lines or only a few. The singing and dancing will make up for it!

    If for some reason you decide not to be in the play, please see Mrs. Ritzman before school closes for Christmas break. Have a most wonderful and blessed Christmas season.

  • December 15, 2010:
    Our auditions are drawing to a close, with a few stragglers finishing up on Friday. Results will be posted by Sunday afternoon, and scripts will be handed out at the readthrough on Tuesday, December 21. Break a leg, everyone!

  • November 30, 2010:
    Musical season has officially arrived!!! It is time to sign up for South Pacific! Remember, there's no reason to delay! Auditions will be held on Tuesday, December 14th from 5:30-7:30 PM and Wednesday, December 15th, from 3:45 - 5:00 PM. If you are unable to make these dates, please see Mrs. Ritzman prior to the 14th so that alternative arrangements can be made.

    Signups are posted in the health room, outside of Mr. Ritzman's room and with Mr. Roush in the shop. Please see Mrs. Ritzman with any questions!

    The read through of the play will consist of a showing of the broadway musical -- the date is not yet determined . Although this will differ somewhat from our scripts, it will at least give you an idea of the time period, etc. It is so exciting to begin!

  • November 22, 2010
    TAG! is gearing up for our spring musical, "South Pacific"! Signups start on Wednesday, December 6th and will continue through December 15th. We will need lots of actors for military men and women! Positions are open for actors, backstage crew and for the construction crew as well. If you are looking for a senior project, there are several chances to complete these requirements when participating in the musical

    Auditions will be held on Tuesday, December 14th from 5:30-7:30 PM and Wednesday, December 15th, from 3:45 - 5:00 PM. If you are unable to make these dates, please see Mrs. Ritzman prior to the 14th so that alternative arrangements can be made.

  • September 3, 2010: *** Change in audition times *** It's time to sign up for the junior class play! Signups will be posted through Wednesday, September 8th. Auditions will be held Wednesday: September 8th from 3:30-4:00, Thursday: September 9th from 6:30-7:30 and Monday: September 13th at 3:30. Readthrough will be Tuesday, September 14th starting at 6:30. Our first full day of practice will be Thursday, September 16th, starting at 6:00.   • On July 28th, TAG! held our first ever Musical Theatre Summer Workshop! Hosting 17 students, the day was danced, sung, acted and played away. Our many thanks to the presenters and helpers that made this event a wonderful success. Go Here to see some pictures of our day!

  • TAG!'s Musical dance theatre workshop is coming up fast! All participants are asked to register for the class so that we have an accurate head count. Please go HERE and sign up today!   • NEWS! NEWS! NEWS! Attention TAG! members and those who have an interest in joining! Our choreographer, Miss Alice, will be holding a 'musical theater workshop' July 28th !   • A few students have approached me to inquire about a summer play. This is a decision I have struggled with, but your director really needs a summer off. There will be no summer play this year. With vacation plans for the cast, it is never easy to get a play up and running successfully and I just lack the drive this year.

    Enjoy your summer, TAG! members, and come back rejuvenated and ready to begin again in the fall. I look forward to our new season after a restful summer!

  • At our musical this year, TAG! was pleased to have a display showcasing musicals we have done since TAG!'s inception in 2005. Part of our display incorporated the outstanding senior actor/actress award recipients. Each one was contacted prior to the musical and each responded with thoughts of what TAG! meant to them while in high school. Go here to read what these very talented alumni had to say.   • It is time to once again, close the door on EJ's theatrical program for the year. What a wonderful year we have had! We began the year showcasing the script talent of one of our own, Jeffrey Germak, as we performed his play "Down in the Pitz" in November, followed by "Annie Get Your Gun" this past weekend, where an outstanding job was done by all. We've laughed, we've cried, some of us have bled -- and when it is all said and done, as director of our very talented kids, I am so proud of you all! Well done, everyone. Well done indeed. Take one last bow, you deserve it.

  • The musical, Annie Get Your Gun! is fast approaching and we are just about ready! The kids have worked so hard, and their dedication is showing. Remember, the play is the 19th and 20th! Tickets are $4.00 and are available now and at the door. Come and have a gol-dern wonderful time!

  • Because of a combination of serious illnesses amongst our pit, cast and crew, and then the wrath of Mother Nature, our musical date has changed. "Annie Get Your Gun!" will now be performed on March 19th and 20th. Our new schedule is being worked on and will be up for the remainder of our practice by this weekend. Thanks for your patience as we scramble to move everything around and be ready!

  • Our schedule posting through the month of February is now posted! Please be aware that last minute changes may be necessary as we approach production day and see there are scenes that need more polish. REMEMBER!!! Learning your lines means the fine tuning touches on your scenes can be accomplished sooner rather than later! Fine tuning takes a good scene and makes it great. LEARN YOUR LINES.

  • Our newest and possibly most valuable rehearsal tool is now here! "AccompanEase" is a computer generated piano score that lists all the vocal parts in the play as well as the scene music.   • Casting selection for "Annie Get Your Gun" can be found here. Congratulations to all of you for enduring yet another season of auditions. EJHS is lucky to have so much talent from which to choose!

  • TAG! is now gearing up for our spring musical, "Annie Get Your Gun!" Please mark your calendars -- our musical is extremely early this year, February 26th and 27th. It is going to take a lot of dedication and hard work on the part of our cast, crew and pit band to pull off a successful show this early.

    Auditions will be held on Wednesday, December 2 from 5:30-7:00 and on Thursday, December 3 from 3:45-5:00 in Ej's auditorium. You *must* audition to get a part. Readthrough of the play is the following Monday, December 7, starting at 6:00 PM. To everyone who hopes to get a part -- break a leg!

  • TAG's first production of the season, "Down in the Pitz" was performed on November 13th and 14th before a very receptive audience, and a good time was had by all! Written by an EJ jr, Jeffrey Germak, the cast was able to breathe life into their wacky characters for everyone to enjoy. Well done, everyone!

  • TAG! is getting ready for our first field trip coming up Saturday, October 24! TAG! is going to Lock Haven College for a Theatre Festival, in which our students will be allowed to participate in three different workshops ranging from lighting, improvisation, stage combat and writing a script! The day will culminate with a showing of Lock Haven's current production, "Hobson's Choice". All field trip permission slips and workshop request forms are due by Friday, October 16th. Extra forms are available and can be gotten at play practice or from Mrs. Ritzman. So far we have about 12 going! Take advantage of this experience!

  • Our junior class play is coming along nicely, with our sound and lighting techs beginning to add the finesse that makes our plays what they are. Remember, Cast! Your attendance at practice has now reached the crucial point. Every day you miss can be detrimental to the others around you.

    Learn your lines and show up for practice ready to go! The schedule through October is posted on the Health Room door!

  • PLEASE NOTE!! Due to scheduling difficulties, the readthrough of the play was rescheduled for today, Monday, September 14th! An announcement was made and students were asked to see Mr. Ritzman or myself if they could not make it and only two came to decline. Remember! You must listen to announcements diligently! Hope to see you tonight at 6!

  • 09/13/09: Casting is complete and parts can be reviewed here . Readthrough of the play will be Tuesday, September 15 starting at 6:00. Please be on time! Your directors like promptness! Scripts will be handed out at this time. Please note that if you are a part of the crew, you can attend practices any time you wish, but you must report to Mr. or Mrs. Ritzman to let us know you are there. Being a part of the crew does NOT mean you can show up at the school during practice and take off to do whatever you want to do. If you are at practice, we *will* expect you to work.

  • 09/07/09 Some info regarding our up coming jr class play: to help facilitate communication, our student directors have set up a facebook page for you all to join and take part in. Please be aware that facebook is likely blocked at school so alas, this will have to be home communication. I will do my best to post cancellations or changes in the schedule on facebook and here, although neither are currently accessible at school for me to make changes to. Ugh!

    Auditions for our junior class play, "Down in the Pitz" -- written by one of TAG!'s own, Jeffrey Germak, will take place Tuesday, 09/08 from 3:30-5:00 and Wednesday 09/09 from 6:30-7:30 in the auditorium. Remember to pick up an audition sheet from Mrs. Ritzman's office (as usual, on my bulletin board). Be there on time and ready to read a few lines! Break a leg, everyone!

  • 08/29/09: Our new school year has begun, and with it, a new play season! TAG! is gearing up for a fantastic season, starting with our Junior Class Play, which will be performed in November. Stay tuned for signup dates, which will be mid week next week, with audition dates following shortly there after.

    Because of time constraints, our musical will need to be earlier than usual. What this means, oh thespians, is that our practices for the musical will begin immediately after Thanksgiving break. Not to worry -- we will persist!

  • Well, we gave it the 'college try' and ran with it briefly, but when the dust all settled it quickly became apparent that the summer play was just not going to happen! At the same time, some of our younger actors were able to learn more about stage and stagecraft and that is always my goal in anything we do with TAG! Enjoy the rest of your summers, cast! The play is officially canceled!

  • The schedule for the rest of our season can be found here . Take a few minutes to look it over and realize what we are up against! If you cannot make these practices, bring dates that you will be missing to play practice asap!

  • Thursday, July 2 -- play practice from 6-8. We will begin Act 2 but will also be reviewing Act 1.
    T uesday, July 7, play practice will run from 6-8, Act 2.
    Wednesday, July 8, play practice 2:30-5:00, Act 1 and 2, review.
    Friday, July 10, play practice will run 3-5 PM as we attempt to run the entire play.

  • Thanks to all who joined us for play practice! Our next practice will not be until next Monday (June 29) from 3-5 PM. Thursday (July 2) we will also have practice from 6-8 PM. Monday we will be focusing on Act 1 Scenes 2-5. Thursday we will begin Act 2. Remember, our time is limited! It helps to come to practice prepared and ready! (hint -- know your lines!)

  • Play practice runs Monday (June 22) from 6-8 PM! Scripts have been rewritten for the last time -- a few parts have been written out so make sure you bring highlighters along tonight to remark things! See you then!

  • Our next practice will be on Monday, June 15, from 6-8 in the auditorium. We will be working on Act 1 scenes 2 and 3! Final script revisions will be completed by that time!

  • The summer play has been chosen, Dead Man's Chest , the script revised to reflect the students we are fortunate enough to have interested, and we are about ready to start! Our first meeting is this Friday, June 12th at 1:00 in the auditorium. If you cannot make it for some reason, please let me know asap!

  • As the school year draws to an end, TAG! looks to thoughts of a summer play to possibly be performed on July 24th and 25th. About a dozen students have indicated interest, and I think that is enough to look for a play to fit what we have. Stay tuned as we head into the final week of the 2009 school year and contemplate our next move!

  • TAG! has just shut our doors on a most spectacular musical season. "The Sound of Music" was performed before a good sized audience on Friday and Saturday, receiving a standing ovation each night. Our students worked so very hard, and their time was certainly well spent! This season has been one of TAG!'s most successful ever. My hat is off to each and every student who participated. They truly did give their all, and it showed!

  • Our first production is over and what an outstanding job our young musicians and actors have done! We are ready for our final performance tonight, although most of us face it with a little regret to think that it will be all over. This year has certainly been a TAG! year to remember.

  • As our production date of March 20th and 21st looms ever closer, tickets for "Sound of Music" are on sale and can be purchased ahead of time at the school. Cost is $4.00. Please contact the office for more information. Cast and crew members can purchase their tickets at practice!

  • Three weeks away from production and we are still hard at work with songs, lines and confidence. Our students are working so hard and now enter the toughest phase of all -- play practice AND spring sports. For those of you lucky enough to be involved in both, remember to stay rested, hydrated and take good care of yourself. The end is in sight! Stay strong! I am proud of each and every one of you!

  • Cast members, please point your browsers to this page to listen to instrumental versions of most of the songs. It is probably the best practice tool you will find! Please take time to listen to your songs prior to coming to practice. I am just going to make you listen to it there anyway!

  • A few people have stated that they have trouble finding the schedule so I am making it easy by linking it here for you. Please remember that with weather issues and school closings, we have to work that much harder to make up for time lost. It is your responsibility to have looked over lines and have an idea what is going on before you come to practice. The sooner you know your lyrics and lines, the sooner you can get out of the books and start to ACT!

  • Weather is being unkind as it usually happens this time of year, but play practice is off the ground and the kids are working hard. A few song parts can be found here for practice purposes. Remember, this play is difficult and will require you to practice on your own as well as during scheduled practices. Please take that extra effort!

  • Casting is complete yet decisions are still looming. Posting the cast assignments this year brought out the very worst in the potential cast members that I have ever had the displeasure of witnessing and has forced me to contemplate if we should have a musical this year.

    TAG! has always had a rule -- no divas allowed on our stage! This year, perhaps some of our cast members have forgotten that this rule is in place.

    Competition was so very very stiff! For every cast member that received a part, there were probably two that would have liked yours and could have handled your part almost as well. When you go about complaining about how much you dislike your part, you are doing two no nos. Firstly.. you are being a diva! Secondly... you are insulting everyone around you that did not receive a part! Believe me, there are others that would be more than happy to step into your shoes and give your part everything they have!

    Please stay tuned as TAG! attempts to come to terms with things. It is my hope as director that we can take all the drama that exists amongst the cast currently, and put it back where it belongs -- on our stage.

  • As we await the start of our upcoming musical season, TAG! is pleased to begin a few weeks of theatre games ! Starting on Monday, November 24th from 7:00-8:30 and running each Monday throughout December until Christmas break, we will play games and have a lot of fun! Our games are based on the works of the late Viola Spolin and on Stanislovsky's 'Method of Acting'. A fun time is always had! Theatre games is open to any TAG! member and any student who is planning to participate in the upcoming Musical!

  • Our students presented our Jr. Class Play, Phantom of the Campfire partially anyway, to a portion of our student body on Thursday, Nov 13, and then fully for the general public on Friday and Saturday, Nov 14 and 15. It was a wonderful way to begin TAG!'s season, and we close the curtains on this play with a bit of regret to see it all over. Thanks to everyone who made this production possible!

  • Preparations are in full swing as we ready for our jr class play, "Phantom of the Campfire" , next weekend, November 14th and 15th! Our show starts at 7:00 in EJ's auditorium, with tickets on sale at the door for $3.00. Tickets are on sale now during lunches (alternatively, you can call the school or stop in to buy tickets ahead of time) so get them while the good seats are still available!

  • Auditions for the Jr. Class Play, "Phantom of the Campfire" , are almost complete and results will be posted Wednesday evening, September 10th or Thursday morning, September 11th. It will be posted here . Break a leg, everyone!

  • Yes, it is THAT TIME OF YEAR again. School resumes next week and as always we start the year off running! Many thanks to our patrons who have donated a combined $270.00 towards purchasing another lapel mic -- which has greatly enhanced our musicals and the ability of everyone to hear our thespians over the pit band.

    Look for signups for our Jr. Class play the first week of school with auditions and practice starting the second. Stay tuned for more information on this year's plays as we look forward to starting a brand new season!

  • Due to lack of interest, TAG's Summer Play was once again put on hold until next year! Our thanks to those of you that expressed an interest. We will continue to offer the option of a summer play until it truly seems the interest is gone completely!

  • At the conclusion of our production season, TAG! now turns our attention to the possibility of doing a summer play! Our plays in the past have included the melodrama, "Blazing Guns at Roaring Gultch", followed by the drama, "Flowers in the Desert", and then our 2006 summer production, "Murder Mansion", written by our own alumnist, Kelcey Kratzer. Last year was the first year that we did not have enough interest to carry off a production, so TAG! took a (perhaps much needed) summer break. This summer, we face the decision once again of having or not having a summer play.

    Although our summer play is usually a way to say thanks to our students who worked so hard during the school year, there are often more mature roles and sometimes, even less mature roles, that open up spots for more than just our own students. Auditions will be held in June shortly after school is out, held in the evening in the auditorium, and will be open to students, recent alumni and East Juniata graduates.

    Our summer audience is never large -- if we have 100 members, we consider ourselves lucky. The play is performed free for our audience, no tickets to buy or sell. We do have a concession stand before and after the play as well as during intermission. This usually provides us the money to cover royalties and materials needed to put on our play.

  • "Wizard of Oz" concluded with standing ovations and resounding applause from our community, which was a most wonderful way to end East Juniata's 2007-2008 play season. Our thanks to our audience, to our cast and crew, and to the many *many* people who offered assistance during our production.

  • Casting is complete and posted, and as TAG! heads into Christmas break, we will do so with scripts and vocals in hand! For those of you that may be experiencing disappointment over parts received, I will only reiterate again -- there are only so many large parts. Please accept your part with maturity and grace and know that casting was done with no avarice intended. Every part is important to the success of this play!

    On Monday, December 17, the movie "Wizard of Oz", starring Judy Garland, will be shown in the auditorium to our cast members immediately following school. Please note, we will be using the large screen and the sound system!

    On Wednesday, December 19th, there will be a full readthrough of the play for all cast members. If your part is over in the first act and you wish to go home, you will be allowed to do so. Expect practice to extend about two hours. We will not be covering songs at this time. Some extra small parts that may have a speaking line or two will be assigned at this time. Please see Mrs. Ritzman with any questions!

  • Auditions for "Wizard of Oz" will be held on Tuesday, December 11th, starting at 4 PM and on Wednesday, December 12th starting at 6 PM. Please bring your completed audition forms with you, and make sure you also have parental signatures. Be ready to sing, as this is a musical -- and even though you may not want a singing part, you still have to sing for us!

    Please remember -- there are only so many large parts. Even a small or nonspeaking part can be a lot of fun. Auditions are very competitive. Bring your game face with you!

    Chosen cast will be posted on this website no later than Friday, December 14th. Break a leg, everyone!

  • Signups for "Wizard of Oz" are going on now and will continue through December 7th. Auditions will be held the following week -- dates will be announced very soon. We will view the movie on Monday, December 17th from 3:30-5:30 in the auditorium. Yes, you may bring popcorn! :)

  • No sooner do we close the door on our first production of the season, than it is time to begin thinking of our Spring Musical! TAG! is excited to announce that we will do "Wizard of Oz" this year! Our production dates will be March 14th and 15th, so mark your calendars now!

    Signups will start on December 3rd and run through the 14th and auditions will be the week before Christmas break. Listen to announcements for particulars!

  • Our 2008 Jr. Class Play, "Donovan's Daughters", was performed on November 9th and 11th for a great audience! It is with a sense of great relief and accomplishment, and perhaps a little regret as well, that we close the curtains on our first production of this season. Well DONE, everyone! You did a wonderful job!

  • Production of Donovan's Daughters is well under way, with students working hard to get ready for our November performance! It has been tricky trying to schedule around our soccer/field hockey/football athletes, but thus far the kids are doing a fantastic job!

    Tickets will go on sale the last week of October and the cost will be $3.00. For anyone interested in purchasing tickets, stop in at the office after October 29th to get yours while they last!

  • Signups are posted and the stage is being set for TAG!'s 2008 Jr. Class Play! This year will find us doing "Donovan's Daughters", a romantic western comedy summed up as follows:

    Seattle, Washington, the late 1880's. There are ten men for every woman in the territory, excellent odds for Shamus Donovan, an Irish fisherman with five daughters to marry off. Several town councilmen immediately fall for the four younger daughters but unfortunately, a family tradition states the eldest must be married first. The oldest daughter is Katherine, a wildcat! In a woman-starved town like Seattle, there has to be someone desperate enough to take on Katherine!

    Using William Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew" as a guide, the men give Danny O'Brien, a federal marshal, advice on how to tame the wild Katherine. Add to the mix three dimwitted lumberjacks and a botched kidnap scheme, and you have all the elements for one of the most energetic romances the west has ever seen.

    Auditions will be held Thursday, September 6, from 6:30-7:30 and Friday, September 7 from 3:30-4:30 in the auditiorium. There are plenty of parts for all! TAG! looks forward to starting this season with a bang!
